Schlenz\, Justus-Liebig-University Gießen\, Germany \nLa Reserve\, Knokke\nIntraoral scanning is the most interesting actual development in modern prosthodontics. It is the decisive step that makes it possible to circumvent the error prone traditional way of impression taking and model casting. Up to now nearly all CAD/CAM based milling and manufacturing processes are based mostly on the scanning of traditional gypsum casts.Dentistry in the future will be clearly digital (think of traditional and digital photography and the rapid change in this field) and it is only a matter time until the traditional impression becomes obsolete. Contemporary intraoral scanners meanwhile deliver a precision that is at least comparable to conventional impression taking when it comes to the reproduction of a single quadrant even in implant prosthodontics. However\, reproducing a full arch or edentulous tissues is still difficult. Results of recent research suggest that this is altogether more a question of the software than the hardware.The course will cover the following topics together with appropriate case examples (1st day): \n\nEvolution of intraoral scanners. DESCRIPTION:Saskia den Hartog en Lisette van der Harst zijn de oprichters van smiles.world. Zij organiseren twee keer per jaar een studiereis speciaal voor mondhygiënisten op een geweldige locatie. De eerste cursus\, Gezond begint in de mond\, staat gepland op 10 – 14 oktober 2017 op Ibiza. \nAspecten van preventieve\, minimaal invasieve en curatieve mondzorg\nAls mondhygiënist weet je als geen ander dat de mond de poort tot gezondheid is. Cariës is echter nog steeds de belangrijkste mondziekte in onze westerse wereld. De beschikbare materialen zoals kunststof sealants en composieten komen steeds meer in opspraak vanwege hun risico voor de gezondheid van zowel patiënt als behandelaar. In deze cursus komen vele aspecten van preventieve\, minimaal invasieve en curatieve mondzorg aan bod. Speciale aandacht is er voor de toepassing van glas\, een biocompatibel materiaal dat ook uitermate geschikt is voor de behandeling van kwetsbare doelgroepen zoals kinderen\, ouderen en gehandicapten. \nWetenschappelijk en hands-on deel\nDe cursus bestaat uit een wetenschappelijk en een hands-on gedeelte waarbij praktische vaardigheden zoals het aanbrengen van sealants\, halsvullingen (paro-patiënten!) en de ART-techniek met biocompatibele materialen geoefend kunnen worden. De gebruikte methodes en materialen zijn evidence-based en worden ondersteund door literatuur. DESCRIPTION:Madrid has already played host to three WDC\, including one of the earliest Annual Sessions1 in 1903\, on the invitation of Dr Florestan Aguilar of Spain. He was an FDI founding father\, former President and Secretary-General\, and towering presence for over 30 years in our federation’s early work. \nFDI’s World Dental Congress is one of the world’s oldest international events under the name of one of the world’s oldest medical-sector organizations.
