Aims & objectives

  • Discuss the value in copy/pasting direct composites and their alternatives.
  • Explain step-by-step technical and clinical processes including maintenance, consenting, and occlusal appliances.
  • Discuss different ways to communicate a smile design with the dental laboratory.
  • Describe occlusal concepts and records needed when altering the patient’s occlusion.
  • Discuss when, how, and why apply the Dahl concept.

Hands-on exercises

  • Smile design of 4 wear cases on a tablet with a stylus (hands-on)
  • Anterior deprogramming and occlusal registration (hands-on)
  • Injection moulding for the worn dentition: monoshade and layering (hands-on)
