Een functioneel concept voor de dagelijkse praktijk – deel 2 (Engelstalig)
Vorm volgt functie zou het basisprincipe van elke tandarts moeten zijn, aldus Dr. Jan Hajtó uit München. In deze module legt hij gedetailleerd uit waarom en hoe functie een grote rol zou moeten spelen in de dagelijkse routine van de tandartspraktijk.

Occusie en craniomandibulaire dysfunctie
In het tweede deel legt Hajtó uit wat occlusie en craniomandibulaire dysfunctie met elkaar te maken hebben waarnaast hij vertelt over zijn pragmatisch functionele concept voor de dagelijkse praktijk. Volgens hem liggen er meerdere factoren aan de oorsprong van craniomandibulaire dysfunctie, hoewel dezelfde occlusie tot verschillende resultaten en diagnoses kan leiden bij verschillende patiënten.
Dysfunctie
Wat wel zeker is, is dat een malocclusie een groot risico vormt voor dysfunctie. Daarom moet er een functionele test worden uitgevoerd voordat er een prothese kan worden aangebracht, zowel voor de duurzaamheid van de prothese als voor de gezondheid van de patiënt. In deze module worden ook statische en dynamische occlusie en splint therapie uitgelegd, en wordt “leaf gauge” verder toegelicht, wat een manier is om occlusale tussenkomsten te identificeren.
