Ontstekingen in de tandheelkunde – Deel 3: speciale types, verschillende diagnoses en complicaties (Engelstalig)
In het derde deel van deze serie bespreekt Dr. Markus Tröltzsch ontstekingen in de tandheelkunde, special types hiervan, verschillende diagnoses en complicaties die zich voor kunnen doen. Tandartsen krijgen bijna dagelijks te maken met patiënten die last hebben van lastig aan te wijzen pijn, met mogelijk een zwelling in de kaak en/of het gezicht.

Oorzaken
Als er geen ontsteking kan worden geïdentificeerd moet een ontstekingsproces met aangrenzende anatomische structuren in overweging worden genomen. In de context van de video worden sialoadenitis en sinusitis in overweging genomen, aangezien deze ook kloppende pijn in de bovenkaak en positieve reacties op percussie testen kunnen vertonen. Bovendien moet er rekening worden gehouden met virale infecties als herpes, osteonecrose, parodontitis of periimplantitis als mogelijke oorzaken van de pijn.

Dr. Dr. Markus Tröltzsch
Dr. Tröltzsch graduated in dentistry at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg 2005 and subsequently he graduated in medicine at the same university 2010.
During his medicine studies, he did continuing studies with the curriculum for aesthetic dentistry of the Academy of Practice and Science and at the Department for Surgery of the University of Sydney and the Department for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Zurich.
Dr. Tröltzsch works in the research group of Professor Messlinger (Department of Physiology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), worked at the Department for Maxillary and Plastic Facial Surgery at the Ruhr University in Bochum and is currently assistant physician at the Department for Maxillary and Plastic Facial Surgery at the University of Göttingen.
He is author of various scientific articles and speaker at conventions and courses in Germany and abroad.
He also works in a private practice for dentistry and maxillary and plastic facial surgery in Ansbach.
